Michelle Ryan is the Investments Project Manager for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). She has investment oversight and administrative responsibility for the retirement assets for LANL and for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She has been in the unique position of participating in the formation of an ERISA pension plan from a state governmental education pension plan. The current assets in the Laboratory’s pension plans are over $6 B. She was key in the development of the 401(k) investment structure as the plans grew from $0 to almost $2 B in a 9 year period. She received her CEBS certification in 2013 and is currently working on her CIPM designation. She has a degree in accounting from San Francisco State University and an MBA from New Mexico State University. Prior to her employment at LANL, she had various employment experiences including 2 years as a US Peace Corps volunteer in Armenia and 1 year as an English teacher in Japan.
