Liza Milagro is the Resilience & Sustainability Manager for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport with 20 years of experience in sustainability, innovation and management. In this role, she is responsible for developing, executing, achieving Zero Waste by 2020 and making ATL the greenest airport in the world. Ms. Milagro is the DOA’s subject matter expert in sustainable materials and resource management and provides oversight of ATL’s Resilience Management Plan and Sustainable Management Plan with a concentration on materials and waste management from all cross functional DOA departments including concessions, design, and internal as well as external airport operations. She has conducted extensive research on the feasibility of a state of the art full-stream recycling facility located on a 39 acre tract of the airport campus. Green Acres ATL Energy Park is a cutting edge, first of its kind facility that will allow the airport to process their entire waste stream on campus, create ‘Green Jobs’, and set the standard of excellence for sustainable airport operations globally. Other programs she is responsible for deploying include Recycling Containers in the CPTC, Sustainable Food Court Initiative and Vendor Fair, Banning Styrofoam at ATL, EPA Food Recovery Challenge and implementation, the GreeningATL Excellence Awards, just to name a few. Ms. Milagro received her undergraduate degree from Dillard University in Sociology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Japanese Language and Cultural Studies. She went on to complete her Masters of Science – Project Management with a concentration on Sustainable Program Management from Boston University.
