Lt. Matthew Clark is a native of Horseheads, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from State University of New York (SUNY) at Brockport in 2008. Clark enlisted in Navy in October 2009 and completed Nuclear Field A-School, Nuclear Power School and Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston, South Carolina, where he earned his Reactor Operator NEC in April 2012. He was selected for Officer Candidate School and earned a commission in 2013. At sea, Clark served aboard USS Gettysburg (CG 64) as Auxiliaries Officer and Gunnery Officer. Following fleet-up, he served as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer until Gettysburg de-crewed for Cruiser Modernization in Fall 2015. He was most recently assigned to USS Mahan (DDG 72) as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer. Subsequently, Clark completed Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center’s (SMWDC) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) program and became an Anti-Submarine Warfare/Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) WTI. He is currently assigned to SMWDC and serves as Flag Aide to the Commander. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), and multiple campaign and service awards.
