Tim McCue is Austal USA’s Vice President, Small Surface Combatant Program. In this role, he reports directly to Austal USA’s President and is responsible for all aspects of the LCS, FFG(X) and Autonomous Vessels developed by Austal USA. Tim has a diverse marine background to include over 30 years of experience in ships operations, design and construction, both in commercial and defense markets. Tim held the position of Vice President of Engineering at General Dynamics, NASSCO in San Diego, CA. Prior to that he served as NASSCO’s Director for Business Development and Strategic Planning. He served twenty (20) years in the US Navy as an Engineering Duty Officer, providing oversight for new construction, engineering and repair contracts, at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding offices in Boston and San Diego. His final post while on active duty was at Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) in San Diego where he served as Production Officer, responsible for over forty (40) production workshops and approximately 1,050 sailors and civilians. He retired from active duty as a Commander in June, 2006. Tim earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from the College of Holy Cross. He earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, with a concentration in Gas Turbine Design. He also earned dual Master’s Degrees in Naval Architecture/Ship Construction and Ocean Systems Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA.
