David R. Lira of GIRARDI | KEESE is a trial lawyer specializing in product liability and negligence cases on behalf of consumers. Mr. Lira is a fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (“IATL”), an invitation-only worldwide organization limited to 500 lawyers in the United States and is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (“ABOTA”) (Advocate Rank). Mr. Lira was named by Lawdragon Magazine to its list of “The 500 Leading Lawyers in America” (2006, 2008 – 2014 and 2016-2019) its list of “The 500 Leading Plaintiff’s Lawyers in America” (2007) and its inaugural list of “The 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers in America” (2019). In 2015 and 2017, Mr. Lira was named one of California’s “Top Plaintiffs’ Lawyers” by The Daily Journal. On November 18, 2017, Mr. Lira was named “Consumer Attorney of the Year” by the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC). Mr. Lira had previously been selected as a finalist for “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by the CAOC organization in 2004, 2010 and 2016, and by the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA) in 2006. Mr. Lira received a unanimous United States Supreme Court decision in Williamson v. Mazda which ruled that the doctrine of preemption does not apply to seat belt defect claims. In 2008, Mr. Lira’s investigation in a case resulted in a national recall of a child bed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Mr. Lira currently represents numerous families who lost loved ones in Lion Air Flight JT610 involving the Boeing 737-8 max airplane.
