Maria Tsakona is an environmental engineer with more than 12 years of experience in directing and managing environmental engineering projects in the field of solid waste and resource management: formulation of waste management plans and strategies, reuse and recycling programs, LCIA and feasibility studies. She has participated in several EU-funded projects and has experience in ICT tools for sustainable environmental management. During the past eight years, Ms. Tsakona had the opportunity to participate in several international conferences and projects, which had contributed in increasing her understanding of major global waste management challenges and opportunities. Ms. Tsakona is CEO of Green Advisors & Q Advisors, firms based in Athens, Greece. In addition, Ms. Tsakona is an active member of the ISWA Marine Litter Task Force. In 2017 she founded the Women of Waste Initiative, supported by ISWA.
