SWANA International Board


Allen Lynch is SWANA’s Canadian Representative to SWANA’s International Board (IB). Before he retired, Mr. Lynch was the manager of the North Shore Recycling Program in North Vancouver from 1990 to 2013, and was responsible for planning and administering all waste reduction and recycling programs for three local cities. He wrote an integrated solid waste management plan, implemented curbside recycling programs for all single and multi-family homes, established a staffed recycling drop-off depot and set up a comprehensive community outreach program. The North Shore Recycling Program was awarded two gold, two silver and one bronze SWANA Excellence Awards in Public Education. Mr. Lynch represented the municipalities on regional government committees and producer responsibility groups and made presentations at national and regional conferences, including WASTECON®. In addition he sat on the Board of Directors for the National Zero Waste Council. Mr. Lynch was International President of SWANA in 2004, served on the International Board (IB) from 1995 to 2005, was the Region 2 representative to the Executive Committee (EC) from 1997 to 2000, and was also the Canadian Representative to the IB and EC from 2011–2014. He has been a member of SWANA since 1990. He has also served all of the roles on the Executive Committee of the Pacific Chapter and is Past President. He received his SWANA Certification as Manager of Recycling Operations in 1994.
