Shari L. Wilson is an ecologist and environmental educator with more than 25 years of experience. She is the founder and president of Project Central, which designs and implements environmental curriculum and projects in schools and communities. Her passion is connecting science and nature with kids and communities in ways that promote critical thinking, problem solving, environmental knowledge, and fun. Ms. Wilson focuses on interactive pedagogies including project-based and outdoor learning, hands-on activities, and group discussions. She has worked with learners and teachers from preK–university through classroom teaching, training workshops and projects such as recycling, food waste composting, gardening, green schoolyards, schoolyard biodiversity and civic ecology. Ms. Wilson has implemented food waste recovery programs in approximately 25 schools in the Kansas City area, using collaborative processes that involve administrators, teachers, custodial and lunchroom staff, and students.
