Alvin Compaan is President and CEO of Lucintech Inc which is developing flexible and transparent cadmium-telluride-based, solar-electric (photovoltaic) modules for windows, sunroofs, and light-weight, flexible applications. He has led research efforts for more than 30 years in thin-film photovoltaic materials and devices. Prior to establishing Lucintech, he was Distinguished University Professor at the University of Toledo where his research was funded by a variety of federal and state agencies and private companies. He has done collaborative research in PV with many industrial teams, holds 12 patents or patent applications in the area of thin-film PV, and has authored more than 275 scientific publications. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, received a postdoctoral fellowship from New York University, and was a Humboldt Fellow at the Max Planck Institute-FKF in Stuttgart.
