Captain Allen Edmiston was born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University (BS/EE), the Naval War College (MA), the Joint Forces Staff College, and the University of Maryland University College (MS). He joined the Navy via the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate program in 1988 and obtained a commission from Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island in 1990. Most recently, Captain Edmiston served as Commanding Officer, U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Bahrain. At sea, he served on Carrier Strike Group Nine (CSG-9) as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (N6); the Seventh Fleet staff as the Submarine Operations Officer; USS MARYLAND (SSBN-738)(Gold) as the Navigation and Operations Officer; and USS KEY WEST (SSN-722) as a division officer. During his sea tours he participated in Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, Global War on Terrorism, counter-drug, and other carrier strike group operations around the world. Ashore, Captain Edmiston has served the Assistant Chief of Staff for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (N6) and Chief Information Officer for U.S. Naval Forces Central Command; Deputy Director Information Technology Services and Executive Assistant to the Director J6 for the Joint Staff; Officer-in-Charge of the NNWC Global Network Operations Center; and as an Officer Electrical Engineering instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Command, Orlando, Florida. His is also a certified Naval Operational Planner, and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
