Mr. Gumbert is the Senior Managing Partner in Gartner’s Department of Defense consulting practice. He has more than 45 years of government and commercial experience. Following a distinguished career as a nuclear trained submarine officer, he has spent more than twenty years in the information technology industry developing and implementing IT strategy, IT consolidation, risk mitigation and business process improvements. Mr. Gumbert has supported numerous Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Intelligence Community projects, including the Air Force DCGS Sustainment Improvement Project, an Intelligence Community Technology Improvement Initiative and a Marine Corps Organizational Assessment and Design Program. He is located in Company’s Arlington, Virginia office. Mr. Gumbert has significant experience in: Strategic Planning, Cybersecurity Assessment, IT Sourcing Strategy and Contract Development, Program Management, Enterprise Information System Implementation, IT Transformation Initiatives, Risk Management, Process Improvement and Business Analytics, Human Capital Strategy and Strategic Communications. Before joining Gartner, Mr. Gumbert held a number of leadership positions with a major defense contractor, with a startup information technology company and was President of RJS Consulting Group. Mr. Gumbert is a nuclear trained submarine officer who, among his numerous Navy assignments, was Commander of Submarine Squadron Fourteen in Holy Loch Scotland, commanded a nuclear powered fast attack submarine and held a number of senior management positions in the Pentagon. Education: * Master business administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute * Master in Human Resources Management from Pepperdine University * Bachelor of science in engineering from the United States Naval Academy
