Fourteenth Coast Guard District

Rear Admiral Lunday assumed the duties as Commander of the Fourteenth Coast Guard District in July 2018. He is responsible for directing Coast Guard operations throughout Oceania, including Hawai’i, Guam, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, and activities in Singapore and Japan. The Coast Guard conducts operations and activities across the Fourteenth District as part of the Department of Homeland Security team protecting the U.S. and as one of the five armed services and part of the joint force defending it. The Coast Guard works closely with allies to advance maritime governance as part of the rules-based international order essential to a free and open Indo-Pacific. Prior to reporting to District 14, Rear Admiral Lunday served as the Commander of Coast Guard Cyber Command, an operational command reporting to the Commandant and a joint Service Cyber Component of U.S. Cyber Command. During that time, he also served as the Assistant Commandant for C4IT, responsible for policy, management and oversight of Coast Guard C4IT operational, business, and infrastructure assets. From 2014 to 2016, Rear Admiral Lunday served as the Director of Exercises and Training (J7), U.S. Cyber Command, where he was responsible for the joint training of the Cyber Mission Force and delivery of trained and ready cyberspace forces for the Department of Defense. Rear Admiral Lunday has served in a variety of operational, legal, and intelligence assignments in the Coast Guard and joint community, including command afloat and ashore.
