Major (P) Nikolaus Ziegler is the Senior Military Innovation Officer for the Emerging Technologies (EM) Directorate at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). He focuses on delivering innovative processes, services, and capabilities across the agency. The EM Directorate develops, executes, prioritizes, and collaborates EM-based needs such as browser isolation, Software Defined Networking and Assured Identity. Major Ziegler has held numerous leadership and command roles throughout Army. He has served in the 7th Special Forces Group, 1st Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne Division and the 21st Signal Brigade. While serving in the 302nd Signal Battalion he was assigned to the Joint Multi-Nation Readiness Center, Hohenfels, Germany where he trained coalition and US forces for deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. While serving with the 7th Special Forces Group, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida he was assigned as the Group Communications Officer and deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve as the SOJTF-OIR J6. While deployed, MAJ Ziegler was selected to be the Aide-De-Camp to the DISA Director and Commander of JFHQ-DoDIN Ft. Meade, Maryland. He joined the Army directly out of high school and in 2003 attended the Army Officer Candidate School where he graduated as a distinguished military graduate and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps. Major Ziegler is a graduate of the United States Air Command and Staff College, the Signal Captain Career Course and the Signal Officer Basic Course. His earned a Master Degree from the Air University and a Bachelor Degree from Towson University, Towson, Maryland. Major Ziegler’s military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC) the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Expert Field Medical Badge and the Parachutist Badge. He is a proud member of a military family with generations of service to the United States of America. His mother was an Army Security Agency Morse Intercept Operator and his father is a retired Signal Corps Officer. He is married to the former Amy Lynn Kutz and they have two children; Camden Jon who is 6 years old and Miss Zoe Abigail who is 4 years old.
