Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor



Lieutenant Blanco was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Later attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After completing Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, Lieutenant Blanco was commissioned as an Ensign in July 2010. He completed his initial sea tour aboard USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) and USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) as Weapons Officer, deploying and conducting multiple patrols to the 7th Fleet area of operations. His second division officer assignment was aboard USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57), where he served as Training Officer, completing numerous integrated strike group exercises and serving as the Air and Missile Defense Commander Liason Officer to Carrier Strike Group Eleven onboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). He was then selected to attend the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor (IAMD WTI) course, earning his patch along with class honors as the “Top Tactitian” of class 15-030. He then completed his WTI production tour as the Surface Combatant Integraion Officer at the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School (CAEWWS) as part of the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC) in Fallon, Nevada. His accomplishments there included graduating the Hawkeye Weapons and Tactics Instructor (HEWTI) course, coordinating the IAMD WTI Integration Course, conducting curriculum development and instruction for multiple convenings of the Integrated Air Defense Course (IADC), and acting as the Aegis platform lead for numerous integrated events at the Boeing Virtual Warfare Center (VWC) in St. Louis, Missouri. His personal awards and decorations include the AFCEA/USNI Copernicus Award for innovation in Navy C4I, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various service and campaign awards.
