Capt. Aaron S. Ellis is a Marine Corps Cyber Network Operations Officer. He is currently serving as the Cyber Operations Officer, Marine Corps Communication Electronics School, located in Twentynine Palms, CA. He is responsible for overseeing the drastic 06XX occupational field changes for multiple military occupational specialties, while ensuring alignment with the Marine Corps communication community’s Force Modernization Strategy. Also, as further development of the 17XX occupational field begins, ensuring the proper training pipeline is identified and implemented. Aaron enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1998 and upon graduation from boot camp began his enlisted career as a Small Computer Systems Specialist until in 2003 when he was approved for lateral move into the 0689 Cyber Security field. In 2009 he was selected to the ranks of Warrant Officer and became a Cyber Network Operations Engineer Officer. Upon achieving the rank of CWO3, Capt. Ellis was then selected for Limited Duty Officer and his present rank of Captain in 2015. Over the course of his 20 years of service, he has served in a multitude of Marine Corps communication billets and commands spanning the globe from Camp Pendleton, CA to Okinawa, Japan. His experience in various levels of commands includes: Marine Forces Pacific, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade, 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, 1st Marine Division, 1st and 3rd Marine Logistics Group, Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA), 9th Communications Battalion and deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Capt Ellis holds multiple certifications including Cisco Certified Network Associate, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, GIAC Security Essentials Certification, and Sec+.
