Mike O’Hara joined UL in 1996, serving in many capacities including project engineer, account executive and business development, with increasing responsibility. He has also held leadership positions in several UL Product Safety divisions including Wire & Cable, Power Distribution, Industrial Control Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment with his last leadership assignment as Director of Operations for North American for UL’s Chemicals Business Division. As General Manager of global nutraceuticals services for the UL Consumer Products division, Mike is responsible for the development of a product registration and UL Verified Mark program for the dietary supplement industry. Through extensive consumer research and contribution from manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, trade associations, government officials and other stakeholders, he and the UL team of developers have launched a new web-based approach to meet the needs of the industry - UL ClearView, a proprietary on-line database, is specifically designed to drive transparency for the quality assurance efforts of dietary supplement manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers. Mike has been instrumental in developing a strategic partnership with the Natural Products Association (NPA) as well as two cooperative UL/NPA programs – GMP Training and Education Platform and GMP Certification Program, with more to come.
