Anti-Submarine/Anti-Surface Warfare Tactics Instructor



LT Tyson Eberhardt is a native of Seattle, Washington and earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 2008. He holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania. Eberhardt earned his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2013. His initial sea tour was in USS PREBLE (DDG 88) as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer. Following fleet-up in USS PREBLE (DDG 88) he served as Navigator. In USS PREBLE (DDG 88) he deployed in 2013 to the 7th Fleet AOR and participated in TALISMAN SABER 2013 multilateral exercises and operations with the GEORGE WASHINGTON strike group. For its operations in 2013, USS PREBLE (DDG 88) received the Spokane Trophy. Following a homeport shift from San Diego, CA to Pearl Harbor, HI in 2014, he was deployed with USS PREBLE (DDG 88) to the 7th Fleet AOR where the ship participated in TALISMAN SABER 2015, CARAT Indonesia, and SHAREM 2015 with the ROK Navy. During that deployment he also participated in operations with the GEORGE WASHINGTON, RONALD REAGAN and BONHOMME RICHARD strike groups. He is currently an ASW/SUW Warfare Tactics Instructor at SMWDC Sea Combat Division specializing in active sonar systems and tactics. During his time at SMWDC he also served as the uniformed lead for the SHAREM 188 bilateral exercise with the ROK Navy. His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Battle Efficiency Award and various other personal, unit and service awards.
