Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor



A native of Los Angeles, California, Lieutenant J.R. Dinglasan is a 2011 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy in June 2011 through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) program at UCLA and entered the Navy’s surface warfare community. LT Dinglasan’s sea duty assignments include USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) and USS ESSEX (LHD 2) as the Repair Officer and later as the Electronics Repair Officer. He then reported to USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52) in September 2014 as the Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA) for his second division officer tour. Between his tours, he earned recognition as the Distinguished Graduate for the August 2014 class of the Advanced Division Officer Course (ADOC). He also earned his steam engineering officer of the watch (EOOW), gas turbine EOOW, and Aegis Cruiser/Destroyer (CRUDES) tactical action officer (TAO) qualifications while assigned at sea. Ashore, LT Dinglasan currently serves at SMWDC Sea Combat Division (SCD) as an action officer for the N3, assisting with the planning and execution of SWATT (Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training) and other fleet advanced tactical training. He also serves as an instructor for the Anti-Submarine/Anti-Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) course. He is a graduate of the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) WTI course, earning recognition as the Honor Graduate for Class 16020. LT Dinglasan was also assigned temporarily to SMWDC Headquarters (HQ) N5, assisting with the development of IAMD tactics. LT Dinglasan’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Navy Expert Rifleman Medal, the Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal, and other personal, unit, and campaign awards.
