Burt Bertram, EdD, LMHC, LMFT is a relationship therapist and counselor educator in Orlando, Florida. In private practice since 1977, Burt’s professional efforts focus on assisting individuals, couples, families and workgroups to productively identify, understand, and address the issues and conflicts that are influencing or shaping their lives. He has made over 300 professional presentations at national and regional conferences and has conducted over a 1,000 seminars for community and/or workplace audiences. For the past 20 years, Dr. Bertram has been Adjunct or Visiting Professor in the Graduate Studies in Mental Health Counseling program at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where he teaches ethics, family therapy, couples counseling, introductory counseling skills, and practicum/internship. Additionally he is a consulting psychotherapist to the Florida Hospital System (2,200 physicians on eight campuses in greater Orlando) where he provides counseling, coaching and consultation for physicians affiliated with the hospital. Burt is a past president of the Florida Counseling Association, the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association and the Central Florida Association for Marriage & Family Therapy. He is a Fellow in the Association for Specialist in Group Work (ASGW) and is the recipient of the ASGW Eminent Career Award (2014) and the Distinguished Service Award from the Central Florida Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (2012). He and collaborator Anne Marie “Nancy” Wheeler are authors of The Counselor and the Law: A Guide to Legal and Ethical Practice (7th ed.) published by the American Counseling Association.
