MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

Dr. Corey Fucetola received two S.B., the M.Eng and the Ph.D. degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2013 respectively. Alongside his undergraduate thesis he patented a system to couple hollow microfibers to a syringe pump to support fluid flow thorough micro tubes. Between the M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees, he worked at Lumarray, a startup based on shifting the optical lithography paradigm from mask-based to mask-less patterning of photoresist and worked as project manager of the MIT Solar VII, in which he successfully led MIT’s effort to build a solar-only model home that was delivered to the National Mall for public display in the 2007 Solar Decathlon Competition. During his Doctoral program he patented a low-cost interference lithography tool and developed a patented manufacturing approach to assemble sub-micron thick patterned silicon membranes into multi-level photonic structures. After graduating in 2013 he was accepted into the Translational Fellows Program for Post-doctoral Associates at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, became a Deshpande Center awardee and he has continued to commercialize the technology developed during his Ph.D. The remainder of the time, as a Research Scientist in the Space Propulsion Laboratory, he has focused on improving the manufacturability and functionality of ion-Electrospray Propulsion Systems for small Cube Satellites, two of which are now flying in low-earth orbit.
