Debra Darby is marketing director for Organix Solutions, an organics recycling and solid waste solutions company headquartered in Minnesota where it pioneered the organics co-collection method. Ms. Darby works with institutional clients, municipal and state policy leaders, educating on the cost effectiveness and sustainability of waste reduction. She is part of a project development team that brings deep industry experience in both waste collection and processing infrastructure for managing solid waste and organics processing. Formerly, she was director of brand and marketing with Metabolix, a developer of biobased polymers. Drawing on her experience working with sustainable materials, plus her 25 years in marketing communications, Ms. Darby has a unique combination of expertise in biobased materials and renewables, organics recycling and waste reduction. For 10 years, she managed an independent consultancy serving as key strategic advisor to a diverse group of multinational clients, start-up companies and public entities involving new product launches, branding and opening new markets. She holds a master’s degree in work environment/cleaner production from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
