Gavin Barfield is the Chief Technology Advisor for Meralco, the Philippines’ largest power distributor. He has overall responsibility and oversight for technology and transformation across One Meralco including the Company’s corporate information technology, cybersecurity, process & data, and project management strategy and functions. His deep industry knowledge combined with a solid IT background is invaluable in driving forward Meralco’s digital transformation. Gavin is a well-recognised expert in both the Philippines and Singapore Energy Market and has spoken at a number of international conferences on Asian energy markets. He was involved in the design and development of both the Singapore National Energy Market (NEMS) and the Philippines Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) and regularly advised the Philippines Department of Energy and Singapore Energy Market Authority on industry developments and regulatory issues. Gavin also worked extensively for Singapore Power in the design and development of the IT systems that support the Singapore Electricity Market. Gavin has more than 13 years of international management consulting experience with 12+ years in Asia. Prior to joining Meralco, Gavin managed Pöyry and PA Consulting’s business units across Asia. Gavin holds a Batchelor of Science Degree (First Class) from Loughborough University (UK).
