Knight Sky

President and Founder of Knight Sky, LLC, George Knizewski has been actively engaged within the satellite communications industry for more than 25 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College and a Master of Science Degree in Technology Management from Brooklyn Polytechnic. He was awarded a Meritorious Service Award from the National Guard Bureau J6 for his service during Hurricane Katrina, an award rarely presented to civilians. He has held various positions in engineering design, product line management, and business development. Founding Knight Sky in 2003, their first assignments was the “CSS SATCOM Proof Of Concept” program for US Army PEO EIS, where they architected a global satellite architecture based solely on COMSATCOM. The CSS SATCOM POF was a ground breaking project which demonstrated the how commercial satellite products and services could be integrated to provide a rapid, scalable capability for the US Army Logistics Command. Knight Sky continued to advance the use of commercial technologies and IP over satellite through their work with the DISA Transformational Communication Program. Recognizing that the demand for satellite communications by the federal and state sectors was going unfulfilled, Mr. Knizewski leveraged his team’s knowledge of satellite communication and secure networking to construct a managed satellite network service called “SkyMAX”. The SkyMAX network services are available primarily for Federal, State and Local government agencies so that they could acquire high speed satellite communication for incident response and recovery without a significant investment in engineering, operations, and maintenance. This model has proven to be effect for supporting regional incident response and most recently in support of National Disasters as demonstrate with of the current recovery effort in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.
