Dr. Sastry Kompella is a Senior Research Scientist and the Head of the Wireless Networks Research Section under the Information Technology Division at the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington DC. He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 2006. His research interests include wireless networks, from mobile ad hoc to underwater acoustic networks, with specific focus toward the development of cognitive and cooperative network optimization. He gave tutorials on cognitive radio networks at MILCOM 2015 and 2016. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.
