Jessica L. McCain is an IT Specialist and Cyber Threat Analyst at United States Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha Neb. As a Senior Analyst on the Network Threat Reduction & Cyber Exploitation Prevention Team (NTRCEPT), she is responsible for identifying, evaluating, analyzing, and characterizing cyber threat actor capabilities and behaviors; developing and sharing cyber threat indicators, signatures, and profiles; and conducting authorized user and system monitoring. Her unit’s mission is to detect, deter, disrupt, and defeat threat actors in the cyber war-fighting domain by actively hunting, mitigating, and responding to technological threats and vulnerabilities on systems and networks critical to USSTRATCOM’s line of operations. Ms. McCain began her civil service career in 2008 at the Defense Commissary Agency, working her way through college as a customer service representative. She joined the ranks of USSTRATCOM in March 2011 as a Pathways Intern. Her previous assignments include USSTRATCOM/J5 Cyberspace Planner Intern, USSTRATCOM/J633 Network Defense Intern, USSTRATCOM/J633 Information Security Analyst. Ms. McCain was born at Offutt AFB Neb. and graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Assurance in 2013. During her undergraduate studies, she was the recipient of the Cyber Corps Scholarship for Service from the National Science Foundation. She continued her post-graduate education and earned a Master of Science degree in Information Assurance Management and Policy from University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2015.
