COL Joel S. Lindeman is the Commander, Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Command Center, DISA Headquarters, Fort Meade, Maryland. His primary duties include commanding, operating and defending DISA’s portion of the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) valued at over 30 billion dollars of infrastructure at 43 sites operated and defended by 12,000 Information Technology experts across the globe. COL Lindeman entered the U.S. Army from Pennsylvania in 1995. He received his Commission in the Army Signal Corps, detailed Infantry, from Pennsylvania State (Penn State) University's ROTC program. His initial assignment was to the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), serving in numerous leadership positions throughout 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment. Upon completion of his detail to the infantry he was assigned to Fort Richardson, Alaska where he served as an arctic paratrooper in the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment and later as a company commander in the 59th Signal Battalion. Following assessment as a special operations communicator, he served in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), deploying on multiple rotations with a Joint Special Operations Task Force in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. COL Lindeman’s later assignments include Regimental S6, inspector general, and multiple assignments as a Strategic Signal Brigade S3. He commanded the 54th Signal Battalion, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait from October 2011 until November 2013. COL Lindeman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Penn State and Masters’ of Science degrees from the U.S. Air Force’s Air University and the National Defense University’s Eisenhower School. He is married and has three daughters.
