Ken Hellendall began his career in the emergency services in 1972 as a member of the La Mott Fire company in Cheltenham Township Pennsylvania. Over the years he rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Chief, a position he held for 10 years. While in college, he served as the photographer for the Richmond Indiana Fire Department and was a Reserve Police Officer with the Centerville Indiana Police Department. In 1981, He was appointed to the Citizen's Advisory Committee to develop the Emergency Medical Service in Cheltenham Township, PA. He was appointed as the Director and Chief of Operations shortly before the service began in February of 1992. He maintains this position today, in addition to being the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Township.
