Recently joining WESROC by Independent Technologies, Inc., Boyd H. McGathey, Vice President, Business Development, has a wealth of knowledge in the propane industry. Before joining WESROC. Mr. McGathey served as Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer at Ferrellgas, the Nation’s 2nd largest retail propane marketer. Responsibilities included all retail propane operations, Blue Rhino distribution and its Ferrell North America business unit that manages the company’s supply, transportation, wholesale, trading, hedging and inventory management. Under his leadership, the company produced record financial each of the past three fiscal years. Prior to re-joining Ferrellgas in March of 2011, Mr. McGathey was the West Division President at Inergy Propane, a role he assumed following the sale of Liberty Propane in December of 2009 to Inergy. Mr. McGathey was a Partner and served as the Chief Operating Officer for Liberty Propane, the nation’s ninth largest propane company, from April 2005 until the business was sold. Mr. McGathey led the company’s 38 retail operations in 11 states, including supply and logistics, safety, and fleet management, and had a key role in business development for the company. Liberty Propane grew from a start-up to the ninth largest propane company in the industry in less than six and a half years. Prior to joining Liberty Propane, Mr. McGathey worked at ADT Security Services, a Tyco International LTD company. Responsibilities included oversight of two major Midwest operations with EBIT in excess of $28 million and gross revenues over $55 million. While at ADT, Mr. McGathey led key business units in the Midwest and earned ADT’s Club Excellence and the TYCO Circle of Management Excellence Awards. Mr. McGathey previously served as VP/Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Ferrellgas. He launched his career in the propane industry in June of 1989.
