Ruilin Yang holds a Ph.D degree in Mining Engineering from University of Queensland in Australia and a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Northeast University (1982) in China.   After his Ph.D, he worked for JK Mineral Research Centre and CSIRO as a research fellow on geo-mechanics and blast modeling projects for one and half year. Then he took a post-doctorial fellowship with Queen’s University for two years on blast damage measurement and modeling analysis.   He has been working with Orica Canada and USA for 22 years in blast modeling and instrumentation. He is working on dynamic strain, static strain monitoring, rock fragmentation modeling, blast fumes, explosive testing, and near and far field blast vibration and airblast modeling and analysis.   He developed the shock wave theory and control techniques for field sympathetic detonation of blasts. He is the author of the multiple seed (MSW) blast vibration prediction model for linear and non-linear superposition. Recently, He developed a multiple blast hole fragmentation model.
