Roger Favreau obtained a Ph. D. in nuclear Physics from McGill University in 1960, then was research scientist at the Explosives Research Lab of Canadian Industries Ltd till 1963, at which time he became Professor at the Royal Military College in Canada where he did research to create equations for the mechanisms of a blast as derived from the fundamental principles of science, and validate these equations by tests carried out with mines, quarries, construction projects and the explosives industry.˜ From 1963 to 1973 he was a consultant for Canadian Industries, during which time he invented the Emulsions; from 1975 to 1990 he was a consultant for the Explosives Division of Dupont.˜ He has done work in blasting all over the world.˜ He retired as Professor Emeritus in 1998 but continues to do research at the Royal Military College and has assembled his research discoveries in blasting into a comprehensive blast simulator which is accessible to all on the Web.
