Michael Grochol is the Vice President of Technology at GDIT, supporting special operations and intelligence community customers. He previously founded Iron EagleX, growing it from a small startup into a nationally recognized defense technology firm before its acquisition by General Dynamics. Earlier in his career, he served as an AC-130 gunship crew member with Air Force Special Operations Command, flying more than 100 combat missions across multiple deployments to Iraq. At GDIT, he leads strategic technology initiatives focused on AI-native architectures, data portability, and the organizational practices that allow defense programs to iterate at the speed mission demands. His background as both an operator and a technology builder gives him a deep understanding of the challenges on each side of the requirement. He is an active member of the Open Geospatial Consortium and the American Geographical Society, and previously served on the board of directors of the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation.
