Wendy Peia Oakes, Ph.D. is the Nadine Mathis Basha Professor in Early Childhood and Executive Strategist for the Institute of Learning Design and Discovery at the Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation. Her work focuses on practices that improve educational access and outcomes for young children with and at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders. For example, she explores how schools design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive, integrated, three-tiered (Ci3T) models of prevention; the implementation of evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions; and professional learning for preservice and in-service educators in implementing practices with fidelity. She has published over 100 peer reviewed publications, 24 chapters, and 4 books on these topics. Oakes serves as an associate editor for Remedial and Special Education and Special Issue Co-Editor for Education and Treatment of Children. She served as president of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Division for Emotional and Behavioral Health and the CEC Division for Research.
