Courtney Atkinson is a dedicated special education professional with over 11 years of experience in the field of K–12 education. Courtney holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Houston-Downtown, in addition to an associate degree from Sacramento City College. Courtney’s work is rooted in a passion for student-centered learning and teacher development. She specializes in instructional coaching, mentorship, curriculum support, and professional development. Her leadership roles include facilitating weekly Professional Learning Communities, training staff in specialized learning platforms, and contributing to both the PBISS and Curriculum & Instruction teams. Her instructional approach focuses on applied behavior analysis, crisis intervention, and differentiated instruction—helping diverse learners thrive in inclusive settings. She is known for her creativity in and out of the classroom, her collaboration with parents and staff, and her student-centered approach to teaching and learning. Courtney’s contributions to education have been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named the ABS West Teacher of the Year, Harris County Department of Education Teacher of the Year, and a HAABSE Teacher of the Year Nominee. Her professional journey reflects a commitment to equity, communication, and continuous growth for both students and educators.
