Niles Township District for Special Education
Tarin Kendrick has dedicated her career to advancing opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Since beginning her journey in education in 1997 as a special education teacher, Tarin has remained deeply committed to inclusive practices and high-quality services for students. In 2004, she moved into administration and has proudly served the Niles Township District for Special Education ever since, most notably as Executive Director for the past 19 years. A servant leader at heart, Tarin believes in removing barriers so staff can do their best work in support of students. Her leadership has resulted in transformative accomplishments, including restructuring the cooperative, expanding specialized programs and services, and fostering innovative partnerships to enhance student supports. She successfully led a collaborative effort with nine districts to renovate and expand the Molloy Education Center, culminating in a $19 million project that now better serves the needs of the community. Tarin’s impact extends beyond her district. She is an active voice in state and federal legislative advocacy, championing policies that benefit students with disabilities and their families. Her career reflects an unwavering commitment to equity, collaboration, and excellence—ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
