As Henderson Engineers’ Director of Fire Protection, Paul serves as a mentor to a variety of people, including venue owners and operators, project managers, designers, and construction personnel. His experience in venues includes over 300 new and renovated facilities, including major and minor league, university, municipal and privately-owned stadiums, arenas, convention centers, performing arts and theaters projects across the country. A registered Fire Protection Professional Engineer in 22 states and the Province of Alberta, Canada, as well as a recognized Fellow for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, Paul an industry-renowned fire protection and life safety expert and has spent the last 35 years helping venue managers, operators, and facility owners obtain building permits, coordinate with fire marshals, and resolve building and fire code issues by providing technical justification for code equivalencies and variances. He’s basically a human code book. Paul especially enjoys helping venues increase their safety and security posture in his role as current chair of the faculty of IAVM’s Academy for Venue Safety and Security teaching fire protection and life safety subjects. He also travels to venues across the country delivering IAVM’s Trained Crowd Manager certified training for the IAVM. Away from the office, Paul enjoys his motorcycle and working on his farm in Garden City, Missouri.
