Outdoor Adventures

Pablo Lopez was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, a community that lies in the heart of the Chihuahuan Desert. It is a place that is not only intoxicating for those who live and breathe the outdoors, but it is a land that changed Mr. Lopez’ life. Pablo could have been the status quo--a kid of color, with little resources, and no access to the outdoors. But he was lucky enough to live and breathe the outdoors, and defined Mr. Lopez’s life in more ways than one. An avid cyclist, Pablo raced for a decade, where he humbly learned how to pick himself up after many shortcomings. It is his love for the bike that lead him to becoming a mechanic, and for the last 17 years has managed the local shop, where he not only learned about the bike industry, but has helped to transform an entire community of cycling. Through these transformative and strong relationships, cultivated and nurtured overtime, Pablo and a good friend have been developing a vision that has taken shape into becoming a the very popular, Monumental Loop. This loop is a 328 mile bikepacking adventure, connecting all four points of the Organ Mountain Desert Peaks National Monument. Through this passion for the outdoors and commitment to community, Pablo has begun to organize events and weekly community rides, inspired to shape an equitable outdoor recreation industry in New Mexico. With the recent creation of New Mexico's Division of Outdoor Recreation, and the nation’s first ever Outdoor Equity Fund, an incubator for programs that provide access to outdoor programs for local underprivileged youth to connect to public lands, Pablo also wrote New Mexico House Memorial 10 in 2019, recognizing the New Mexico Bikepacking Network, that connects the state from north to south. This connection of New Mexico’s most unique bike routes, will not only connect regions of the state, but will connect cultures from all across New Mexico and the rest of the world.
