Ms. Jara Tripiano is the Chief Engineer for Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific where she serves as the senior level executive for systems engineering and integration, driving enterprise technical solutions and transformational engineering processes in support of delivering effective Information Warfare capabilities. Ms. Tripiano received a bachelor’s degree in Weapons and Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1997 and a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1999. Ms. Tripiano was designated as a naval aviator in 2000 and assigned to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light FOUR FIVE in 2001 where she completed two operational deployments onboard USS Bunker Hill and USS Lake Champlain. From 2004-2006 Ms. Tripiano served as the protocol officer for Commander, Naval Air Forces. Ms. Tripiano completed her active duty career as an Assistant Program Manager in the tactical data links division of Program Manager Warfare (PMW) 150 at Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO C4I). Ms. Tripiano entered the civil service in 2009 as the Assistant Program Manager – Engineering for the Tactical Networks Program Office. She led numerous systems engineering efforts including establishment of the Communications and Networks Integrated Product Team to align upgrades from multiple programs to provide end-to-end capabilities. From there she was assigned as the Assistant Program Executive Officer - Engineering for PEO C4I. In this capacity, Ms. Tripiano was responsible for providing direct engineering leadership and support to PEO C4I programs on behalf of the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) Chief Engineer. In 2016, Ms. Tripiano transitioned to NIWC Pacific where she played an integral role in driving the implementation of cybersecurity standards and architectures across the Navy and led NAVWAR and NR&DE efforts to integrate cybersecurity engineering into systems engineering. She then took the role of Principal Technical Manager and Division Head for Cybersecurity Engineering and worked collaboratively across NAVWAR and the Naval Research and Development Establishment (NR&DE) to deliver innovative and timely solutions to challenging cybersecurity issues. She assumed her current position at NIWC Pacific in February, 2022. Ms. Tripiano has received the Strike/Flight Air Medal (2 awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (1 award), the Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards) and the Naval Meritorious Civilian Service Award (1 award).
