Derek Hodgins is the Director of Business Development for Human Exploration and Operations at Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems, working to further its contributions to NASA human spaceflight from Low Earth Orbit to cislunar space. Derek has managed NGIS performance of NASA’s Commercialization of LEO and Space Relay Partnership and Services Studies, and Cygnus secondary and hosted payloads. Prior to NGIS, Derek spent 9 years in the Strategic Investments Division of NASA Headquarters, performing oversight and strategic planning of NASA’s Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate. He previously worked as a Flight Controller in Mission Control for the Space Shuttle, and as a Systems Engineer and Flight Controller for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) N/O/P-series. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University, a Master of Engineering in Space Systems Engineering from The University of Michigan, and a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University.
