Lee Mitchell is the Manager of Coal and Gas Origination for Duke Energy, where he is responsible for the procurement and optimization of natural gas, coal and reagent supply for the company's power generation fleet. Additionally, he oversees the generation fleet's natural gas storage and transportation capacity portfolios to support economic and reliable gas delivery. Lee joined Duke Energy in 2013 as a Power Trader, where he optimized Duke’s Carolinas and Florida power generation portfolios. Prior to Duke, he was the Manager of Petroleum Supply & Distribution for Southern States. In this role he was responsible for the company’s origination, sales and trading, risk management, and terminal assets of distillates, gasoline, and propane. Lee has over a decade of energy origination and trading experience with a deep understanding of cross-commodity relationships. Lee holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and a M.S. in Natural Gas Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
