Gillum is currently an assistant coach and Health & Wellness program coordinator at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. At SMCC, Gillum serves as the infield coach and third base coach in addition to assisting with hitters, strength training and recruiting. Gillum is also the current manager of the Savannah Bananas of the Coastal Plain League. In 2018, Gillum led the Bananas to a league-best 37-13 record. The Bananas led the league in runs, stolen bases and hitting and Gillum led the National team to a win in the 2018 Coastal Plains League All_Star Game. In addition to the Coastal Plains League, Gillum has also coached in the Cape Cod League, Myrtle Beach League and Texas Collegiate League, where his Brazos Valley Bombers team won three TLC titles.
