Scott Laverty became the 14th head baseball coach in Chapman University history in July 2013. After, winning 298 games in 14 seasons as head coach at University of Redlands, Laverty stepped in and found immediate success, putting together a 30-win campaign and reaching the SCIAC Tournament championship game in his first year while eclipsing the 300 career win mark. In 2018, Laverty led the Panthers squad to their first-ever SCIAC Tournament title and first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2018. Chapman won 35 games in 2018 - the most during Laverty's tenure. Laverty now owns a .660 win percentage at Chapman and has amassed nearly 450 wins in his 20 seasons as a head coach. He has also coached in the Frontier League for the Evansville Otters.
