A recognized leader in home health, primary care, and aging services, Dr. Steven “Steve” Landers brings nearly two decades of experience as a physician, executive, and public health advocate to his role as the first CEO of The Alliance. Board-certified in family medicine, geriatric medicine, and hospice and palliative care, Dr. Landers has devoted his career to advancing home- and community-based care for older adults and those with serious illness. He is a passionate champion for the vital role home care and hospice play in delivering compassionate, dignified, and cost-effective care. Dr. Landers earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, where he also completed a family medicine residency. He pursued a geriatric medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and earned a Master of Public Health in health policy and management from Johns Hopkins. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Indiana University. Early in his career, he made thousands of house calls, serving low-mobility patients in their homes. He has served on numerous boards in the home-based care space, including the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, American Academy of Home Care Medicine, and the Research Institute for Home Care. He has worked closely with federal and state policymakers, including testifying before Congress and advising senior officials at CMS and HHS. Before joining The Alliance, Dr. Landers was director of home care at the Cleveland Clinic and later served over a decade as president and CEO of Visiting Nurse Association Health Group, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit home health and hospice providers. His work has been featured in The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, HuffPost, and national media including ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS Mornings with Gayle King.
