Hussein Banai




Dr. Banai is Asstant Professor in International Studies at Indiana University and Research Affiliate at the Center for International Studies at MIT. His research is focused on Iran’s political development and U.S.-Iran relations. He’s working on a book on the tortuous path of liberal thought-practices in modern Iran, provisionally titled Hidden Liberalism in Modern Iran. He co-convened a critical oral history project on U.S.-Iran relations since 2007. The project joins former Iranian and American officials, scholars, journalists, and others to explore missed opportunities and breakthroughs in U.S.-Iran relations since the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
