Kovacs is a Cleveland-born pianist and composer. He is a current member of the FiveOne Experimental Orchestra, the Lima Symphony Orchestra, and the lead frontman and songwriter for the indie band Return of Simple, and he performs piano arrangements of NES music under the moniker 88bit. He is an artist in residence for the Arts and Medicine Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. He is the first person to give a solo performance of Steve Reich’s Piano Phase by simultaneously playing both piano parts on two pianos. Kovacs was awarded 2008 Best Pianist/Keyboardist by the Cleveland Free Times (n.k.a. The Scene).
