John Fergerson is a native of Cushing, Texas. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1991. His first assignment after basic training was to Camp Courtney, Okinawa, where he served as an electrical equipment repair specialist. After his deployment to Okinawa ended, John received orders to Cherry Point, North Carolina and a few years later was stationed at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth where he would finish nine years of active service and transition into the Marine Corp Reserves. Once John left active duty, he began a career with the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). He would spend eight years with the airport performing maintenance duties at Terminal “B.” While part of the DFW airport maintenance department and still in the Marine Corps Reserves, John would receive combat orders to deploy to Iraq. Over the next four years, John would serve on three combat tours. In 2008, he would return home and take a job as Cushing ISD’s new Director of Maintenance, John quickly found himself immersed in all aspects of school facilities. During his next ten years, John’s title and duties would change to Executive Director of Operations, where he would take on the responsibilities of transportation, plant operations, maintenance, technology, and many other duties not directly related to facilities. In January 2009, John began attending Stephen F. Austin State University. Five years later, in May of 2013, he would graduate with a BAAS in General Business from Stephen F. Austin State University. After five more years of crafting his trade, John would accept a job as Klein ISD’s Associate Director of Maintenance in April 2018. Shortly after John’s arrival to Klein, he enrolled in Concordia University’s MBA program. John completed his degree in December of 2020 with a Masters of Business Administration. Six months later, on July 1st, 2021, John began his new and current duties as Klein ISD’s new Director of Transportation.
