Ian currently works as the Assistant Director of Johns Hopkins HealthCare Solutions. The HealthCare Solutions team functions to connect diverse populations (employees, beneficiaries, patients) to the innovative, evidence-based interventions derived from the research of Johns Hopkins clinicians and scientists. He oversees the development and commercialization strategy for weight-management, pre-diabetes and diabetes programs. Ian’s work leverages expertise in nutrition and population health, along with experience developing and deploying population-based initiatives in urban and rural communities. Ian has coordinated community- and clinic-based interventions focused on patient activation, diabetes prevention, chronic disease self-management and smoking cessation. He has also served on the Board of Directors for a Federally-Qualified Health Center (FQHC), a council of social agencies and a faith-based organization. He currently serves as Advisor to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Public Health & Epidemiology Interest Group. He holds a Master of Public Health degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University and a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from the University of the West Indies (Jamaica). He has completed a Certificate of Advanced Study in health services management and policy from Syracuse University (Maxwell School) and has pursued graduate studies in nutrition at Pennsylvania State University.
