R.J. Walker has been in the telecommunications industry for more than 30 years. He came to Buckeye in 2012 after leading telephony and high speed data teams at TimeWarner Cable. At Buckeye Broadband he architected improvements in High Speed Data, video and telephony to create a market leading set of services that are significantly more advanced and more reliable than peer service providers. He brought his expertise into play with the creation of real-time pre-paid data services, fiber optic (GPON) services to the home and business, and unequaled access to video services that provide customers with the highest quality in over the top services. R.J. manages the Buckeye companies IT and billing services as well. Prior to joining Buckeye, R.J. served in similar capacity at TimeWarner Cable, Insight Communications, Windstream and AT&T. At TimeWarner Cable, R.J. was directly responsible for both the telephony services and high speed data services to 1.4 million customers for Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Prior to Insight/TimeWarner, R.J. was CTO for Concord Telephone Company in Concord, North Carolina. In that capacity, he built the AT&T wireless network for a good portion of rural North Carolina, as well as the WiMax systems in that area. R.J. has a primary BSc in Microbiology from The Ohio State University, with a minor in computer science, specializing in computer and data network architecture. He is a member of SCTE, holds ITIL certifications (EXIN), and completed the NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program. R.J. resides in Monclova, Ohio with his wife and three daughters. He is a supporter of the Toledo Zoo, The Toledo Botanical Garden, and the Toledo Area Humane Society. R.J. is a life long supporter of the Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University and, along with fellow alumni, has established two scholarship funds.
