StrongHearts Native Help Line
Mallory Black is Diné and the first Communications Manager for the StrongHearts Native Helpline. She is of the Bitter Water Clan, born for the Near to the Water Clan. Prior to StrongHearts, Mallory was the Communications Specialist for the Division of Student Affairs at San Diego State University. Mallory is an experienced freelance writer, having produced stories exploring Native American community health, culture and the environment that were published by the Native Health News Alliance, Native Peoples Magazine and the American Heart Association’s Voices for Healthy Kids Initiative. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in communications specializing in public relations and a minor in peace and justice studies from Utah Valley University. She is a member of the Native American Journalists Association and is a former National Press Foundation fellow.
