Benjamin D. Fisher is a technical fellow with BWX, Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) in Lynchburg, Virginia. Mr. Fisher served the company for more than 17 years at the Chattanooga, Tennessee office before transitioning to Lynchburg in March 2018. In his current role, he is focused on additive manufacturing for advanced nuclear thermal propulsion reactor designs. Mr. Fisher began his career as a mechanical intern in 2001, most recently serving as the manager for the BWXT Tooling Design Group and Machine Shop. He has designed and directed a wide variety of robotic and mechatronic systems for BWXT’s Nuclear Services division, including the Spyder and PRIMA™ SG inspection robots, rolled plugging systems, FOSAR systems, sludge lancing equipment, feeder replacement and reactor reconfiguration tooling for CANDU plants, baffle bolt removal equipment, and many others. He has developed three patents for BWXT with several additional patents pending. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2003, Mr. Fisher earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a concentration in fluid dynamics.
