Dr. James Novak
Associate Professor of Aerospace Physiology
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Dr. Novak has been a data analyst for 37 years, primarily analyzing bioinformatics data from a wide variety of taxa, from microbes to mammals, to answer scientific questions in both ecology and genetics. As a research scientist in ecological genetics he has been intimately involved in research design and data collection from both a discipline specific as well as a statistical viewpoint. This research has involved field and laboratory-based experiments along with the concomitant experimental design, field surveys and their attendant sampling protocols, data mining and various bioinformatics studies. This includes the largest and longest radiological body burden dataset for a vertebrate (42413 cases spanning 51 years), one of the first papers to describe increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere, one of the first papers to address the ecological dynamics of glyphosate and atrazine in an aquatic ecosystem and participation in the first scientific research group from the United States to collect samples from the Chornobyl exclusion zone.
